WILLIAM DEAN HINSCH · CARICATURE ARTIST

More than a likeness.
A whole personality.

A good caricature makes you recognize the person—and then notice something new.

For more than 45 years, I’ve drawn people by looking for the details that make each one unmistakably themselves. I exaggerate those features, add humor, and build a little story around the person’s work, passions, and personality. Some are lively pencil portraits; others become full-blown adventures. Every one starts with the same idea: make the picture feel like them.
