Suzy and Mom

Suzy’s mother passed away before the wedding. The family had a photograph of her mother in her own wedding dress, taken decades earlier, but no image of the two of them together on Suzy’s wedding day. I brought her mother into the frame beside her daughter, hand on Suzy’s shoulder. The wedding photographs show Suzy alone. The painting shows the day the way it should have felt.
